Moorefield Girls High School values the educational links we have with our partner primary schools. This covers areas as diverse as a volunteering program, teacher professional learning and a gifted and talented program. Below are examples of the links that have been formed.
Bayside Learning Community
Moorefield Girls is a proud member of the Bayside Learning Community with Brighton-Le-
Sands PS, Ramsgate PS, Arncliffe PS, Carlton South PS, Rockdale PS and James Cook Technology Boys High School. This partnership was formed to ensure students are well supported as they transition from primary school to high school. Initiatives have included a Talent Acceleration Program and staff professional learning.
Mathematics Transition Program
Moorefield Girls High School's mathematics teachers work in partnership with Rockdale Primary School and Arncliffe Primary School to support students as they transition to high school. They have undertaken professional learning into key concepts and strategies to support student learning.
Volunteering Program
Moorefield Girls High School's Year 7 & 8 students volunteer their time in local primary schools in areas as diverse as reading peer support, leadership, sport and play. They enjoy this opportunity to expand their leadership skills and mentor younger children.
Arts Festival Art Competition
Each year, as part of our Arts Festival we sponsor an art competition in local primary schools. This has involved our students mentoring primary school students and developing in them a love of the creative arts.
