Moorefield Girls High School has a designated enrolment area that is referred to as a zoned or local area. Please refer to School Finder to determine whether you live within the boundaries for Moorefield Girls High School.

If you live outside the Moorefield Girls High School boundary, please provide your reasons for attending a non-local school. All out of zone applications are referred to a panel where they are assessed on an individual basis.

In addition to the availability of appropriate staff and permanent classroom accommodation, all out of area applications are considered against selection criteria.

Moorefield Girls High School provides an enriched environment with stimulating intellectual challenges and opportunities for our students to turn their gifts into talents. Moorefield Girls High School has been recognised for many of its initiatives including our programs catering to the specific needs of gifted and talented students. Through specifically targeted programs, our highly qualified staff enrich our students academically, in sport and through the creative and performing arts.

Academic High Potential and Gifted Education Program

Students are placed in the Academic High Potential and Gifted Education Program class based on academic merit. In year 7 students are placed according to an academic assessment. The focus is on providing real world, project based learning opportunities that enrich and extend the students.

Entry requirements into this class:

  1. Submission of this Application Form by 29 May 2023.
  2. Attendance at the Academic Gifted and Talented Class Testing at Moorefield Girls High School.
  3. Based on the results of the Academic testing, successful applicants will be called for an interview. Students are required to bring a portfolio of work to this interview. This can include school reports and achievements, literacy and numeracy testing results, a creative writing sample and evidence of talent in a particular area.

 

High Potential and Gifted Education Visual Artist Program 

Students are placed in the High Potential and Gifted Education Visual Artist Program class based on the demonstration of a talent and interest in Visual Arts. The school will provide an enriched Visual Arts program leading to enhanced learning outcomes developing and enhancing their current Visual Art skills and exhibiting their work both in school and the wider community.

Entry requirements into this class:

  1. Submission of this Application Form by 29 May 2023.
  2. Successful applicants will be called for an interview. At this interview, students are required to bring a portfolio of work, demonstrating their ability and interest in visual arts.

 

High Potential and Gifted Education Athlete Program

The High Potential and Gifted Education Athlete Program class is for talented sports people. This program will include the development of skills, nutritional and motivation sessions and fitness training and monitoring with opportunities for students to participate in representative sport at all levels.

Entry requirements into this class:

  1. Submission of this Application Form by 29 May 2023.
  2. Successful applicants will be called for an interview. At this interview, students are required to bring a portfolio which demonstrates their ability and interest in the sporting program. Students may be requested to attend a follow up trial session at a time to be advised.

 

Please note: In addition to the Moorefield Girls High School application form, all applicants are required to complete the DoE High School Enrolment Form. All applications will be reviewed by the School Enrolment Committee. A copy of the enrolment policy is available from our school website.
