Moorefield Girls High School is a comprehensive school for girls, dedicated to inspiring young women to develop their strengths and talents in a collaborative and creative learning environment.

New co-educational high school from 2026

Following the announcement on 12 November, Moorefield Girls High School and James Cook Boys Technology High School will transition to a new co-educational high school from Term 1 2026.

Extensive community consultation in the surrounding school communities found co-education was preferred by the majority of those surveyed with support particularly strong from local primary school parents and students.

An increase in the student population at a co-educational school will expand the range of courses and extra-curricular activities for students, enhancing their post-school pathways and career options. We will provide regular updates on the progress of the project here and through the school newsletter.

For more information, visit the FAQs on the NSW Department of Education website under Parents and Carers.

Acknowledgement of country

On behalf of the Moorefield Girls High School community, we acknowledge the land of the Bidjidal and Kameygal clans of the Eora Nation on which we live, learn and connect.

As the yellow sun colours the blue sea, the whales swim with ease and the red horizon grazes the green grass, their sacred spiritual connections create a sense of belonging.

We pay our respect to the elders of the past, who carry the knowledge of country through to the present to share with the elders of today and emerging.

As a diverse community, we grow, respect and nurture the future generations of this school, inspiring the young women of today and tomorrow to thrive and succeed.
