International Women's Day was celebrated with amazing activities run by our students. At 7.30am, our Year 12 Captains and Prefects were at Kogarah Town Centre, greeting women heading off to work for the day, handing them the purple ribbon and a small gift. We had the generous support of Christopher's Cake Shop to make this happen and we achieved the desired impact of helping women start the day with a smile.
Additional to this, we held a breakfast for our neighbouring schools. Former Moorefield Girls student, Rola El Hoaui (1995 DUX), was our special guest at our formal assembly to mark the occasion. She spoke of how her mother's continuous encouragement during her school years had an impact on her own pathway, and how her success in a career traditionally dominated by men could be attributed to developing resilience and having confidence in her own ability. Just as impressive were our current students who addressed the assembly. Year 7 and 8 spoke of women who have inspired them, Year 9 told the story of ‘The Wiener’s Wall’ in India and Adita in Year 11 played beautifully on the piano, showcasing our talented student body.
