In Australia and New Zealand, ANZAC Day commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders ‘who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations' and ‘the contribution and suffering of all those who have served'.
Gary Pearson from Brighton Le Sands RSL was the guest speaker at our special assembly. He informed our students of the adversities young soldiers endured during wartime and its effects on their families and communities. Former student, Jascenta Kreskay (Class of 2017), Youth Ambassador for Brighton Le Sands RSL spoke about her KOKODA trek.
On ANZAC Day, Jascenta attended the dawn service with our current school captains at the Brighton Le Sands RSL Club to honour the sacrifice of our fallen soldiers. Jascenta is a member of the Australian Air Force Cadets 302 Squadron Rockdale and symbolises a new generation who are determined to keep the Anzac spirit alive.
Thanks to our guest speakers as well as Orchhna, Ksenia, Amy and Suzana of Year 10 for their leadership in conducting the ANZAC day assembly.
Lest we forget.
