I continue to enjoy each day at Moorefield Girls High School. I am learning more about our students - their strengths, and our focus areas for success. The school sets a high standard and the expectation is that students will meet it. A school is a community where academic progress is only possible with good guidelines around student wellbeing, respectful relationships, and providing opportunities. Congratulations to all students who are excelling in their classes, sport, and our extra-curricular programs.
On the 24th May, three staff from the Premier's Implementation Unit and the Director Public Schools (Georges River Network) visited Moorefield Girls to observe our Bump It Up program in action. The Bump It Up program targets students who have performed in the middle bands of NAPLAN and aims to move them to the highest two bands. Since we started this program last year, the data shows that we have already seen an increase in students who are now performing in the higher bands. Teachers are using strategies throughout their programs to address Literacy and Numeracy, and this was evident during the visit. Thank you to Mr Williamson, Ms Docherty, and Ms Diakos for welcoming us all into your lessons. They were an excellent example of our dynamic practices.
Additional to this, the school applied for a grant to further enhance the Bump It Up program and was successful in gaining $20000 to work with Arncliffe Public School to continue our great work in improving NAPLAN results.
Our P&C meeting in week 5 saw an executive committee formed and all members willing to support initiatives to further improve the school. Minutes will be posted on our website soon.
I look forward to seeing you all at Parent Teacher Night.
