Year 7 Orientation
The Year 7 orientation program has been very successful this year and both the girls and their parents have made very positive comments about the program. Congratulations and thank you to all staff involved in making this program such a success. Supporting a smooth transition to high school will lay a strong foundation not just while they are in Year 7 but for the rest of their high school years.
Achievers Assembly
On Thursday 16 February, we celebrated the achievements of our 2016 HSC students as well as the high achievement of students in the Preliminary and the Year 10 RoSA credentials. The assembly was an opportunity to recognise their effort and to demonstrate to them that we value their hard work and commitment. It is an opportunity to acknowledge their dedication to their studies as well as to thank them for being exceptional role models. The students we acknowledged represent what can happen when students work with their teachers and strive to do their best.
The HSC results of the class of 2016 were outstanding. 47% of our girls achieved in the top 2 bands of the HSC. Our top ATAR was 97.4. Many of last year's, Year 12 have taken on university placements at the University of Sydney, the University of NSW, The University of Technology and the University of Western Sydney. They have entered into Speech Pathology, Optometry, Oral Health, Science, Business, Fashion Design and Technology, Teaching, Policing, Communication/Journalism, Medicine, Naturopathy, Law, Nursing and will join many other ex-students of Moorefield Girls as they embark on wonderful careers in their chosen fields in the years to come. The top achievers of our preliminary and Year 10 courses, I'm sure, in 2016 will follow in their footsteps.
The young women we acknowledged deserve to be congratulated not only for their high academic achievement, but also for being outstanding role models. They deserve our praise and thanks for showing us that as long as you have hopes and set goals, everyone has the potential to succeed.
