12 Dec 2016
Moorefield Girls 2016 Create Festival was held on Thursday 1 December. It was wonderful to see all of the parents and guests enjoying the artworks, entertainment, finger food and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) displays. Our Visual Arts, Hospitality and STEM students worked very hard in their courses throughout the year and it certainly paid off.
The primary school art competition was popular and a number of our Year 7 students for next year were amongst the winners.
For the first time, this year's festival included a STEM focus and the parents were impressed with our new Maker Space. The students and guests were programming robots and having a lot of fun with designing an energy transformation toy.
The hospitality students prepared and served delicious finger food with some of the favourites being the pumpkin ravioli and chocolate mousse cups.
A huge thank you to all involved including our volunteer students who helped in every area of setting up the festival.
I helped set up and hang some of the artwork before the festival. On the night of the official opening, I gave tours of the galleries and in our new Maker Space laboratory I explained to guests how the robots work. I thought it was really fun and I enjoyed looking at all the amazing artworks. Halena, Year 7
